Huge free trade penalty against Canada

In another example of how ISDS neuters the ability of sovereign governments to enact domestic policy decisions in regard to environmental and social protection, the Ontario government’s moratorium on offshore wind turbines was successfully challenged in a secret, private tribunal. The provincial government was ordered to pay $28 million in damages.
